We're Dreaming
On a dreamy day last week, we read Richard Hugo's "In Your Wild Dream" and wrote our own dream poems.
You imagine
Ummmm that sandwich is good
Watch the clouds
Wishing, wishing
Wishing you could go to sleep on the clouds
A wonderful day, the best picnic everything
Oh an ant hill
marching, marching
Oh no you're shrinking
The ants are the same size
as you
Do you know if this is a dream
or a nightmare
POOF
These clouds aren't as comfortable
as I thought
I wish I was just sleeping now
- Brandon S. (8th)
You are walking, on a street with many people.
You look around, now everyone is gone.
Now you are in the sky, flying with wings.
You enjoy the flight, but your wings disappear.
You plummet down, down, down into an ocean.
You hit the water, but feel no impact.
You struggle for breath, until you hit the bottom.
You can breath. A shark lunges for you, but an octopus grabs you first.
Struggling in its grasp, it throws you upward. You hit the surface but keep flying
You hit the moon, and it says to you, "Only a dream, a dream."
- Daniel O. (8th)
Cream Pool
We are at the pool I walk
on to the diving board. You feel
like a skyscraper all the way
at the top. When we all jump
into a big vanilla river. We jump
off the cherries that was
way high up. The rainbow
shine from the banana. It had rained chocolate
and strawberry syrup with sprinkles. We
rain under the bowl. That is when
you open your eyes and you
were in the car.
- Tasia S. (6th)
In My Dream
I am in the ocean and riding a
shark. Eating nails too snails.
Climbing a tree in the forest.
Grabbing a fish which turns into a
degu. Watching him running away
and turning into a caveman.
Riding dinosaurs in the sky. Other
cave men running with their big
bats. Jumping off the dinosaurs and
going into a wrestling ring. Holding
a bat with barbed wire. Hitting
everyone and winning the heavyweight
championship belt. Waking up
with my throat hurting from
screaming too much and missing
school.
- Anthony T. (6th)
my dream
you were walking on a beach, then you were on a giant bird. The wind from the birds wings turned into a tornado and I was carried all around the world until I landed in the water. I was hit by the nose of a narwhal, his nose turned into a rock of a dark cave. I fell through a hole and I landed on a bed. It was your bed in your room.
- Ben K. (3rd)
You pull the covers over your
head. In your sleep,
you're in a mini-van.
The car transforms into a stage set. Jonas brothers music
fills the stage. Nick Jonas
walks backstage you fall
into the library. He is
leaning sadly there. Step one step
front. Alarms go off. Nick
pulls a book, alarms stop.
You ask what's wrong. He
tells. You get his email. NickJonas
@gmail.com. A package falls where
you stood, earlier. A reply to
your fan mail. Joe Jonas
appears. He steps onto the
carpet. He floats away.
Nick and I both step,
floating together away, unfortunately.
